Going past your due date is not the end of the world. Remember EDDs (Estimated Due Dates) are just that, an "𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒂𝒕𝒆" of when baby may come. This can cause unnecessary anxiety, fear, and frustration.

⠀
𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐠𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐲: about 𝟓𝟎% 𝐨𝐟 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 who give birth for the first time usually go the full 40 weeks or a little longer. The most recent birth I assisted this past week, mom was 40 weeks and 2 days and it was her first pregnancy.
⠀
𝐁𝐚𝐛𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐝𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠: most people don't realize that babies do a majority of their growth and development in the last 4 weeks of pregnancy. Babies can gain up to as much as 2 lbs.
⠀
𝐃𝐮𝐞 𝐃𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐄𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬: due dates can be off by as much as 2-4 weeks! This is huge since their brain and lungs are still developing in the last month.

As a holistic wellness coach and doula, 𝑰 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒔𝒊𝒅𝒆𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆 "𝒘𝒉𝒐𝒍𝒆 𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒐𝒏 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒉𝒐𝒍𝒆 𝒑𝒊𝒄𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆." Pay attention to your baby and your body. If there have been no complications or concerns for you and baby... continue the journey. Also, makes sure to stay in communication with your provider during this time.
⠀
Try to remove your attention from a certain date and focus your energy instead on using this date as information for planning for the arrival of your baby.
⠀
Hope this helps!
