Being a mother isn’t easy whatever phase you may be in, being a first time mom can be one of the hardest experiences a woman will have.
Some reasons being a first time mom can be hard are :
➡️You don’t know how your body will respond during the postpartum phase.
- Your body has just undergone a very Life-changing experience. The unknown of how your body & hormones will react to that can bring on anxiety.
➡️Increased Anxiety
- You may have had anxiety before getting pregnant, but now it seems like it is at an all time high.
You may find yourself thinking of worse case scenarios for everything.
➡️New Priorities
- Now you’re thinking and preparing for things you may have never thought of before.
You’re not able to plan things the way you used to because of the unexpected changes Parenthood can bring.
➡️Loss Of Identity
- Among all the other hats you wear, you can now add Mommy to that which now takes precedence over all the other titles.
That can make it really easy to get lost in the mommy title.
➡️Unrealistic expectations from yourself and others.
- You might find yourself comparing yourself to other mother’s and feel like you’re not doing enough. Others may even try to make you feel like you’re not doing all that you “should” be doing.
➡️Sleep Deprivation
- We all know we are recommended to get 8-hours of sleep each night. But let’s be honest, that is close to impossible with a newborn baby and the mind can go through some pretty significant changes with lack sleep.
➡️No Village to help you.
- Maybe you don’t live near family or are a single mother doing it all alone. It takes a Village to raise a baby, but if you don’t have one, that can make raising your little one a little more difficult at times.
Mommy, I want you to know that you are stronger than you even know.
It might be your first time being a mother, but know that all that you need to make it through is already within you.
And don’t be ashamed to ask for help if and when you need it!
